Health &
Wellbeing North Ward was established in Townsville in July 2007 when
the Moriscos’ took over the well known, 30 years old, Dr. Rod
Ward's North Ward Medical Practice.
It is situated within BMD
House in Mitchell Street, adjacent to PhysioNorth, in North Ward, QLD,
4810.
Following principles of
primary health care, it is more than just a medical practice because it
offers the expertise of several health practitioners working together
in a multidisciplinary team.
Medical Doctors work here
alongside Nurses, Health Workers, Allied Health Professionals and
Complementary Practitioners offering clients a growing number of
services all under the same roof.
Starting with upgrading
to a fully-computerised space in 2007, complete with state-of-the-art
instrumentation and equipment, the practice has in 2008 expanded beyond
its boundaries and now incorporates 7 consulting rooms with 2 separate
waiting areas, a Meeting room, 3 Treatment, 1 Massage and 2 Counselling
rooms.
It presents itself as a
youthful and happy place people of any ages and of any background feel
comfortable to attend.

to the practice at dawn
As
a medical practice we have a commitment to providing quality care, and
as a result we are constantly reviewing our performance in different
areas and may be involved in teaching activities (and
research). This has advantages of keeping us on our toes and
up to date, while also providing training for the next generation of
health professionals.
We normally see clients
only by appointments. We aspire to limit waiting time to 15
minutes
but on some days there may be delays and you will be asked to be a
patient ‘patient’….!
On most visits you will
see a Nurse
before seeing the Doctor. The Nurse will take your blood pressure,
sugar, weight and height and may suggest setting up special programs
like careplans or assessments that may be recommended for people of
your same age/sex.
Careplans,
careplan reviews and Health Assessments
are services available to you through Medicare
and are normally bulkbilled.
Pre-employment
Medicals, Driving and Diving Medicals, Certifications for Health Funds
and Insurances, Taxi subsidy applications,
etc., are not covered by Medicare and are therefore billed separately
and no rebates are available on these items.
There is a $30.00
fee for non attendance
to appointments. Please call well in advance when you know you cannot
make an appointment.
As of August 2008, all
our Doctors bulkbill children up to 16 years of age, elders 70 and
older, and all health card holders. This does not apply to Saturdays as
Doctors do not bulkbill
on Saturdays.
Although there are
different prices for different services, clients on
a pension should not expect to
pay more than $
15.00
as out-of-pocket expense
for Allied Health consultations.
