Fees

We are a mixed-billing service.

Most Doctors (but not all) here, and a few of the Allied Health Practitioners, bulk-bill children below the age of 16 and Indigenous people who sign up with our practice (under the Closing the Gap program or CTG). Health care card/pension holders will be charged full fees or a discounted fee at the discretion of the Doctor/Practitioner. THERE IS NO BULK-BILLING ON SATURDAYS.
Please ask reception regarding billing policies for each individual practitioner.
Other consultations, like reviews of blood and imaging results, may also be bulk-billed at the Doctor’s discretion but only when these are face to face and not over the phone/email.
Specific items like investigations, procedures, etc., are billed based on Medicare schedules, with no gap payments.
When a Medicare item is added to a normal consultation (ECG, Spirometry, Nurse care-plan reviews, ABI, etc.), expect to have to pay a higher amount at the counter, but please note that as a rule all items as above are covered entirely by Medicare, which means you get back whatever extra you have paid and will be out of pocket only for about 30-45 dollars (with only 1 or 2 exceptions) no matter how much you are charged at the front desk.

As an example, say you have booked a regular 15 minutes consultation with your Doctor. The 3 complaints you are suffering with have required the Doctor to carry out a detailed physical examination and the consultation has lasted 30 minutes. The Doctor has then asked for an ECG and the Nurse has carried out a quick care-plan review and may have checked your BP and your weight.
At the counter you’re expected to pay $81 (knowing you will get back around $37 from Medicare) but the Receptionist shocks you with a charge of over $ 155.00.
What has happened is that the Doctor has charged you for a long consultation ($115.00), the Nurse has added around $30 dollars for the ECG and $10.00 for the care-plan review.
After you pay the total amount, though, you realise your Medicare rebate is now much higher than expected and instead of receiving back around $37, you now get back $110.00.
The end result is that when you go home you realise you are only out of pocket for around $45.00, which is what you had expected to have to pay when you first came in!
How good is that?!?
